One-cushion

The one-cushion-game is older than the cadregames. It was developed to reduce great series of free game. But the averages of the 1. official match 1878 in Boston were so small, that it was to fear to expel the viewers. It took over 50 years till the best player were good enough to arrange a world-championship. This tournament in 1934 was won by the Austrian Ernst Reicher, who also became european champion in 1950 in this discipline.
At one-cushion the playing-area is free of restrictive marks. To make a valid collision the playing ball has to touch minimum one cushion before he hits ball 3. So all direct shots are disabled, an essential difficulty. A player with an average of 100 in free game can play 5 - 6 in one-cushion.
If the ball to play touches one of the other balls in stillstand (they are PRESS), so the player has the option to bring all balls to initial state or to play away from the ball.
If any ball leaves the table, all three balls are positioned in initial state.
